ArtQuest 2017 – the PRELUDE It feels like an absolute age ago that we rather foolishly decided to create our very own competition, ArtQuest 2017 and little did we know or conceive of the amount of work involved or indeed the number of “life issues” that will slow everything down. Since announcing the competition there has been spinal operations, births, bouts of depression, house moves, job offers, a magazine launch and various other things that have all impacted on the teams’ time and efforts to run the competition. However, it has certainly opened our eyes to where we need to

Phlegethon – Prelude Phlegethon is the third miniature from Aradia’s Dante’s Inferno Kickstarter campaign that we have reviewed here on Figurementors. Unlike Kristian, who wrote the previous reviews, I went for the full pledge and was lucky enough to pick most of it up while at SMC last year. Just as the previous reviews, this is a product that’s currently unavailable outside of their Kickstarter campaign. Background Phlegethon or Pyriphlegethon comes from Greek mythology and means Flaming or Fire-flaming and is one of the five rivers located in the infernal underworld together with Styx, Lethe, Cocytus, and Acheron. It runs

The kit arrived in the usual high quality metal tin, the lid adorned with the box art by Myeong Ha-Hwang with the parts nestled between layers of foam. SCULPT AND CAST Barbarian is sculpted by the uber talented Jun-Sik Ahn and on closer inspection is full of details and textures. This female Barbarian

PRELUDE The Great Unclean One is one of those iconic monsters from the worlds of Games Workshop, that has been around, since time immemorial. There have been several metal versions over the years, the last of which is about 20 years old I think. So it has been with great anticipation in the gaming and collecting community, that they have released a brand new up-to-date plastic kit of the Great Unclean One. BACKGROUND The Great Unclean One is the greater daemon of Nurgle. Nurgle is one of the four Chaos Powers. Nurgle is the lord of decay, sickness, blight and

BLACK COHORT – the PRELUDE The two kits we will look at today are Black Cohort callsigns Rhonoceros and Canis Latrans. These are dynamic, 1/24 scale figures, highly detailed and expertly Cast in Polyurethane Resin. Each figure comes in a sturdy, compact box, the lid adorned with the boxart by Dae-Hyeong Kim. The parts are sealed in ziplock bags and then further protected by bubble wrap. First impressions are very good, lots of detail, dynamic compositions, complete with scenic bases. SCULPT AND CAST Call sign Rhinoceros is an operative under a covert operation, stalking through rocky terrain. The pose shows

Zombie Queen – the PRELUDE I managed to grab a copy of Zombie Queen from Michael and his crew at Euro Miniature Expo in Folkestone back in September and it is a nice kit. Unlike other releases this one came in a sturdy, compact box and not the metal tin. The lid is adorned with the boxart by Kyriakos Simos, the parts nestled securely within layers of foam as is normal. This kit is more of a mini vignette than just a figure with an extensive, scenic display base. The figure consists of three parts and a further four parts
