Carlo Borella has been sculpting for around 10 years and was inspired by his grandfather, who was a skilled sculptor himself. Carlo describes his work as “non-traditional fantasy” and loves to create whimsical characters. His focus lies in the intricate details of character facial expressions, striving to capture complex emotions and bring them to life in miniature form. A recurring theme in his work is the exploration of dream-like, surreal realms, where elements of fantasy are blended with a sense of classicism and aestheticism.
This workshop is the perfect introduction to traditional miniature sculpture. Carlo has designed it to be beneficial for all skill levels, while being particularly insightful for beginners. During the weekend, you will learn how to sculpt a male warrior bust using Super Sculpey. Carlo will support and encourage you to add your personal touch to the sculpture by customising facial expressions, poses, and accessories. You will learn essential techniques to sculpt a fantasy-inspired character as Carlo talks, demonstrates, and supports the class, covering key character design principles along with anatomy basics. This weekend workshop is sure to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
