David was first introduced to miniature painting when his father bought him a box of old Ral Partha miniatures at a garage sale. He painted off and on through elementary and middle school. However, it was after finishing college that David found a renewed interest in figure painting. Online forums and miniature painting shows introduced him to what was possible when one approached miniature painting as an art form. His focus shifted from gaming miniatures to display figures and competitions. Having learned so much along the way, David enjoys sharing that knowledge with others through teaching classes and writing tutorials.
